The Leicester and Leicestershire Careers Hub has secured funding to deliver a two-year Digital
Accelerator Project.
Named We Discover Digital, the project will create opportunities for local young people to increase their understanding of vocational and technical routes into cyber and digital careers.
The project will highlight five key digital sectors that are experiencing growth but which have
reported challenges in attracting talented young people.
It will open doors to apprenticeship and T Level opportunities by exposing students to a range of
digitally-focused interventions and employer-led activities.
“We are looking to engage local businesses to support the programme and inspire young
minds”, said Gerarde Manley, Strategic Lead at the Careers Hub.
“This includes flexible workplace experiences, parent/carer information sessions, and industry insight sessions for lecturers.”
The We Discover Digital project offers several ways businesses to engage with young people.
The project launched in September and will focus on Year 12 and 13 students.
The project will be formally evaluated, and findings shared with all institutions involved.
We Discover Digital is funded from the Digital Futures Accelerator Fund (DFAF).
DFAF was launched after Salesforce invested £1 million in The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) to help overcome barriers to apprenticeship take-up.
