EMCSC cyber skills White Paper to be launched at Westminster
East Midlands Cyber Security Cluster will officially launch its skills White Paper during a special event in Westminster.
The event will bring together government, industry, and academia, exploring how the UK can move from awareness to action in terms of addressing the national cyber skills challenge.
The launch provides an opportunity to move ideas set out in the White Paper forward for parliamentary debate.
As such, it will set out how the White Paper’s recommendations present a foundation for tangible cyber skills policy and delivery – particularly around the call for a unified cyber skills taxonomy.
Partners and guests will return to London later this month after initially meeting in March 2025 for a discussion which forms the basis of the White Paper.
Groups including EMCSC, De Montfort University Leicester, DSIT, techUK, the UK Cyber Security Council, NCSC, and UKC3 have all been invited back for the launch event at Portcullis House on Monday 27 October.
The APPG for Cyber Innovation, which is sponsoring the launch, will also invite MPs to attend.
Dr Ismini Vasileiou, EMCSC founder, Co-Chair at the UK Cyber Cluster Collaboration (UKC3), and Associate Professor at DMU, will lead the event.
Dr Vasileiou, the author of the White Paper, said: “Things have been progressing quickly since the soft launch of the White Paper in July and several new opportunities have emerged.
“As well as getting a lot of coverage in industry media, we’ve gained the support of the UK Cyber Security Council and discussed our work at an event at the Labour Party Conference.
“It’s going to be great to regroup in Westminster in October to plan what comes next, and we are grateful to colleagues at the APPG for its continuing support in making this happen.”
