The magazine feature describes how the event is helping SMEs move beyond awareness and into practical action on cyber risk.
The Summit, which took place in February at The Venue@DMU in Leicester, brought together more than 100 delegates from across the region’s business community for a day of expert talks, panel discussions and networking.
The Business Network article notes that organisers purposely pitched the content at time‑pressed SME leaders, cutting through jargon to focus on realistic, affordable steps firms can take now to strengthen their defences.
Business Network reports how themes on the day ranged from emerging threats and regulatory pressures to the human side of cyber – culture, behaviour and simple everyday security habits. Sessions were geared towards “what to do on Monday morning”, not simply cataloguing worst‑case scenarios.
The magazine also highlights the partnership behind the Summit. Led by the East Midlands Cyber Security Cluster, organised by EMCSC founder Dr Ismini Vasileiou and delivered in collaboration with De Montfort University, the event formed part of our wider CyberGrowth drive to build resilience across the regional economy. The Summit was also supported by Innovate UK.
Dr Vasileiou said: “Seeing the Summit showcased in Business Network is a strong signal that cyber resilience is now a board‑level issue for East Midlands businesses.
“Our aim has always been to provide practical, evidence‑based guidance that organisations of all sizes can act on – this coverage helps us extend that impact even further across the region.”
With Business Network distributed to thousands of member organisations, the feature is expected to drive fresh interest in future summits and in ongoing support available to help businesses improve their cyber resilience throughout 2026.
